The Bars

The Monsenor boasts two bars that are available at different times but they do overlap. Starting with the Cave Bar, located at the top of the complex, this bar is open from 10AM until 5PM. Plenty of tables, chairs, parasols and the cooling top pool nearby. All the usual alcoholic and soft drinks along with snacks such as toasties, chicken & chips, hotdogs etc. are included for the ALL-INCLUSIVE guests. The service can be a little slow but would you rush around in the intense heat? If you would like to watch and eat the weekly (Tuesday) Paella demonstration, then this is the place to be. They start cooking at about 12 noon and begin serving the dish at just after 1PM. This was not available in December, so I guess it's just a summer thing! TRY IT at least once if you are there for a fortnight or just do it, if you are only there for a week, it's fab!

Below is one of my better photos, of the Cave Bar. I still want a digital camera!

The second bar, called the Disco Bar, is located on the lower level near to the restaurant, reception, shop and the 3 quiet pools that await you. This bar also opens at 10 AM but closes at 1am PROMPT! All Inclusive drinks stop at 11.45 PM and after this you have to PAY! Most people were lining up drinks on their tables long before this time though (Including me!)If you have any beverages that you just haven't had time to drink, the bar staff will be more than happy to supply you with plastic cups so you can take your drinks to bed with you. This is fairly regular - there are no lock-ins! Both bars only vend 1 Lager called Tropical, it's quite nice and does the trick! You can get other canned beers, (E.G John Smiths. 600pts) but these are not included so you will have to dip into your pocket. Only locally produced beers and spirits are included. Things like Baileys are also charged for at the same price as the canned beer.

The bar staff, along with the other hotel employees you will meet, are very friendly and enjoy a joke, especially when the joke is on you! The all-inclusive cards seem to be a constant source of entertainment for them. They will take the mickey out of your MUGSHOT (see arrival) at every given opportunity.

If, like us you don't really like being out in the heat of the day, then this is the place for you. There always seems to be a cooling breeze flowing through the place, which is very nice. The bar during the day is relatively quiet apart from the music, which they tend to play very loudly at all times, even in the evenings (Starting to show my age now).

All the evening entertainment takes place here as well.

In the meantime - here are some of the bar staff we were lucky to meet. I hope you do too!
