The Restaurant
The Monsenor restaurant is located
on the lower terrace of the complex near to the 3 pools and Disco bar. This area has air-conditioning but we never saw it working during our 2-week stay. The layout is split into two sides with the food lining the centre of the restaurant with access available from both sides. Drinks are dispensed at the very rear of the restaurant. Plenty of tables for 4 people and several for couples or singles. Quite a comfortable place to eat in. Don't forget to take your all-inclusive ID cards with you. We will break the restaurant into 3 sections starting with,BREAKFAST
Opens for business at 7.30AM and closes at 10.00AM. All meals are on a self-service basis. Everything you could possibly imagine is available for breakfast. Tea, coffee, cold drinks, fruit, cereals, bread, toast, cakes and if like us, you enjoy a full English breakfast, then you will not be disappointed. Without a doubt the best meal of the day.
LUNCH
Opens from midday until 2.30PM. A variety of foods await you during lunch. Chips seem to be served every lunchtime, so chip lovers like us will enjoy them. Salads are also available here and at the evening meal. Quite a lot of fish and pasta dishes make up the menu. The menu does tend to be repetitive at all meal times but there are always slightly different choices. On Tuesdays they have a PAELLA demonstration at the Cave Bar, if you fancy something different. Snacks are available here during the afternoon from 4PM (I think) and after the evening meal. They must be consumed in the restaurant, as they do not allow you to take them to the pools or bar.
EVENING MEAL
Doors open here at 6.30PM. Gents are requested to wear trousers for the evening meal. If you turn up in shorts you will be asked to change. Back up the lifts again! Most of the time the meals were of a very high standard but sometimes we found them to be a bit off putting but there was always something we could eat. During the evening only, you do have waiter service at you table for drinks. They work very hard but the table service can be slow. If you ask for a drink, you may have finished your meal before it arrives. Visit the bar and take your drinks with you before you go to the restaurant is the best option.
SUMMARY
In holiday brochures they tend to rate all of the facilities available. If we were to give a rating for the food, we would give the Monsenor a healthy score of 80%.
